Do not faint, I actually scrapped!!!

Good morning. It is new release time over at Digistamps4Joy. One of the new images is a Springbok, which inspired the LO. When I saw it, I just knew that I had to use it to make a scrapbook page about my youngest and her Springbok (Protea as they are now called) colours.

She started playing Water Polo in junior school at the age of 11. At 13 she played in the Under 16 team for her province and was named goal keeper of the tournament at the national schools tournament. and was selected for the SA u/16 team.

Ever since that day, she dreamed of playing in the National woman's side and was selected for the first time when she was still in school. Because water polo is not subsidized in any way, all players have to pay for the privilege to represent their country. They have to pay for overseas tours and all kit. This is anything from 30 - 50 thousand rand a tour. The only thing they are given, is the badge to sew onto a blazer.

Because  of the high cost, we never got around to buying the blazer that she deserved and worked so hard to get. She recently retired from playing competitive polo and opted to play only socially. When she turned 30 in July, her father and I decided to surprise her with her Springbok blazer.  She was quite emotional when she finally got to wear her blazer for prize giving at school. It warms my heart to see that and to know that even though she had to wait so long to get it, it still means so much to her.

I just could not let this momentous occasion go past without scrapping about it and that little springbok came at just the right time.

Please hop over to the store to see all the other fabulous new releases and see what all the other DT member did with them, You will be blown away.

I am late!

Good evening all. I can not believe it is the 2nd of September already! What happened to my month long holiday?
I am late posting the new challenge over atDigistamps4Joy. This month the theme is 'Anything goes' as usual with the added twist of using warm colours. I must admit that I found this added twist very hard. I always thought that I loved warm colours and that it would be so easy. no such luck. It took for EVER to get this card together, I kept wanting to add some green. LOL In the end I sttled for a CAS card.

The image is from the store and is called Apple Annie. She reminds me of myself when I was much younger. I could literally eat a bag of apples by myself, in one sitting. I still love apples, just not so many at a time.

She was coloured with Copics as usual and the papers are all from my stash. Please hop on over and join the challenge, there are some awesome prizes to be won.

It's new release day over at Digistamps4Joy!

Good morning all. Yes, it really is me, I am still alive! It has been a crazy few months for me at work. I have been so busy that even my husband wondered if we still lived in the same house and whether I had left him or not! Thankfully that is all behind me now and I am on a month long holiday. I am planning to do nothing more than relax, recharge my batteries, read some good books and create as much as humanly possible.
On top of all that, I decided it was a good time to update my computer. Wrong!!!!! I lost almost all of my files somehow. My poor son is still trying to recover what he can. Of course I am only noticing what is gone as I need them!!! He has been able to recover most of what I need, but we wait and see what else is gone. Let that be a lesson to us all - NEVER update anything before making backups of all files!

That's it as far as my sad life is concerned. Let's get to the exciting stuff. It's new release day over at the shop. Pop over there and have a look at what the other DT members have created with these super new images. How cute is this Home sweet Home image? I coloured with Copics as usual and the fussy cut ( let's not even go to how badly I suck at fussy cutting!!!) the image and popped it on foam dots to give it some dimension.
Next is this awesome African lady called Thando. She was such a joy to colour. I popped her onto a card with some guineafowl feathers and that was it.
We also have a new artist, Delyse,  this week. She draws the most awesome mandala's. I coloured this one with my Copics as usual and then popped it onto a bookmark for my grandie who just loves to read. She loves it.
Please pop over to the Digistamps4Joy blog to see the wonderful creations from the rest of the DT. See you soon with some more creativeness.

Digistamps4Joy new release!

I am Back! It feels so good to have mr. Mojo back in my craft room. He was MIA for what feels like an eternity.
In the time I was gone so much happened: I got a new car, walked into a bus and had a black eye for weeks, went on school camp with 73 girls, buried my aunt (91) made some giant Jengas and giant dominoes for DD's wedding. Finished the save the dates and the actual invitations and held down a full time teaching job - no wonder mr. Mojo went walkies, I am tired just typing all of that!
The new releases from Digistamps4Joy are fantastic! Hop on over to the blog to see what the incredible design team have created.
I just love this ballerina. Of course she was coloured with my beloved Copic markers. The papers and ribbon and lace all came from my stash.

Here is a close up of the image. I have gltterified her tutu.
The next image is a re-release of an older image, Cindy. She was my first ever purchase from the store and I still love her! She was coloured with Copic markers. The papers and the doily were freebies from a magazine.
Just look at how gorgeous she is!
I am off to visit family in Koffiefontein for the long weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful time shopping for new images while I am gone.

DS4J - New release

What a lovely day it is over here in sunny South Africa! After a very busy three weeks at school and a national teachers conference yesterday I finally have time to breathe.
Today is the first new release  for the new year over at Digistamps4Joy and let me tell you, it is an amazing one! I could not decide which image I wanted to colour first and ended up colouring all of them of which three made their way onto cards.
The first one is called 'Heads up - Hat and beads' . I am not overly fond of using blue in my colouring, but my granddaughter insisted that she should have a white dress and hat with blue accessories. Who am I to argue with a ten year old? Blue it was and... I love the end result! She was coloured with my Copics and the paper was embossed. Nothing else needed as far as I am concerned.
Thenext one is called 'Parfait Patty" and again my granddaughter decided that she was wearing a strawberry dress. . The papers are all from my stash.
The last one is a set with 4 thank you sentiments. They are all lovely. This one was coloured with my Copics and put on embossed silver card. Love it! It is so hard to do masculine cards and this one came together so effortlessly.

Be sure to check out the amazing cards from all the other DT members on the Blog. They really are very talented.

WOYWW - Not technically a desk

Good evening all. I can't believe just how quickly the last two weeks went past! When I think back, I can't believe how much we have managed to do in those two weeks either. The first weeks of school are always crammed full of so many things to do.
So I thought I would share a picture of my place of work with you, in stead of my actual craft desk (there really is nothing to see there anyway!)
When I look at photo's of the school where I teach, I am always struck by just how beautiful it is and how lucky I am to get to spend so much time there, teaching some of the most awesome teenagers that I know.
Today, as any other day as a school teacher, was exceptionally busy and full. Teaching grade 10 and 11 girls the whole day and then being part of the grade 12 welcome week activities for the new grade 8 girls that started High school this year.
At one point I suddenly stopped what I was doing and just listened. Listened to grade 12 girls cheering on and encouraging grade 8s. It warms my heart to be at a school where the girls embody the school's motto -'' One School, One Spirit, One Family" In a world where negativity, prejudice and hatred seems to have taken over, these kids brought tears to my eyes with the love they were showing each other.

If you would like to see some actual desks, hop on over to Julia and visit all the amazing people that form this group.

New release at Digistamps4Joy - Its awesome!

Good morning all. I am late! Time just seems to run away from me today.
It is New Release day over on Digistamps4Joy and there really are some awesome digi's this month. Please have a look at them.
I have used the awesome butterfly Hydrangea . I coloured it with my beloved Copic markers as usual.

It is such a beautiful image, the card really did not need anything else, I added a ribbon from my stash, some textured card stock that I have had for years and a sentiment.
Here is a close up of the image, so that you can see just how amazing it is.
I am entering this into the Outlawz Tuesday colour challenge

WOYWW - It got even worse!

Good morning all! So happy that I am still on holiday which means I can join in at WOYWW and show you my desk. I sincerely hope that the state of my desk does not do any lasting damage to anybody. It has been years since it looked like this, but in my defense - I had so much fun!
My youngest daughter is getting married in October and we were playing around with some pretty paper for ideas for wedding invitations. Nothing looks good so far, but I live in hope. LOL
I have also tried my hand at some art journaling. I am very bad at it I am afraid, not sure if this is something I will pursue any further.
I have been playing with glitter too. Nothing is safe from me and the glitter LOL. This is also ideas for the wedding. The candle I love, the glass? Not so much, but we will see.
My helper, Chicken, came to have a look at what I as doing when I was taking photo's. She seems very taken with all that glitter. I even got a 'WOW!', which made me laugh. Maybe I should put some glitter on her perch if she likes it so much?
I did manage to visit all of you last week and will be trying to do the same this week, but as from next week I am back at work, so you might see a little less from me.

WOYWW - Its a New Year with new beginnings!

Good morning, it is hotter than hot here and its only 9h00! Another lovely day. I hope you all stay warm wherever you may be. It is Wednesday which means its time for WOYWW . I am hoping to visit a lot more often this year.
On my desk (that looks like a tip!) you will see the aftermath of a marathon session playing with my new toys. The Altenew stamps was won in a Fb competition. The stamping tool was a Christmas gift from hubby and the rest? Well I was playing and one thing led to another and then the next time I looked, my desk looked like this. Not my fault at all! LOL
Here are a selection of cards that I made with my new stamps from Altenew. I just love them!
I thought I would share this lovely table with you all. I found it lying in the rain on a pile of rubbish at school about 3 years ago. I asked what they were going to do with it and after some detective work, I was told that it would either become firewood or be thrown away!!!! No Ways! I begged and pleaded until they told me if I could fetch it, I may have it. After some more detective work (asking around and looking at old pictutes) I came to the conclusion that it was one of the original pieces of furniture that was bought when the school was built, 90 years ago! My hubby finally had time during his December holiday to sand it down and restore it. Let me tell you, they don't make furniture like this anymore. All done by hand and very solid. He just needed to replace some dowels and it is good as new. I just LOVE my table and I am so happy that I could rescue it.
This is a photo of some of the family members that attended Hubby's birthday party on the 26th of Dec. When I look at this crazy lot, I realise just how blessed we are to still have each other.
I wish you all a happy and blessed New Year, filled with lots of creativity and messy desks!
